The following wiki talks about our file system allocation
http://wiki.onstor.net/wiki/FS/Allocation

Please pay attention to the big "WARNING" label at the beginning of the
document. Also note that the other than layout type 0 (default), none
have undergone any testing recently.

Thanks,
Amit

I have thought that we started using the other LUNS in a round robin
fashion, but still writing a single file into a single LUN. I know that
there use to be an option on the volume command that would allow you to
turn the round robin feature on, then I thought it was implemented at a
standard. That is why we wanted to create volumes from at least 4 LUNS.

Hope I am still right, I am sure I will hear if I am wrong.. :-)=20

Subject: Volume layout....

In the past the volume layout would write the log, and 32k< to the
beginning of the volume and anything >32k to the end of the volume. what
happens when there are more than two luns? Do the writes go to the first
lun for logs and 32K< and anything > goes to the next lun or the end of
the volume (last lun).

Is this still the case? Is there a layout that will allow writing to all
the luns that the volume is created from?

What are the layouts that are available? and the details for those
layouts.

Thanks
Carlos
